Your Early 20s. Best Time of your Life?

The early 20’s are hard. There is a lot of pressure from everywhere. You are told it is the best time of your life so why are you struggling? Don’t get me wrong its fun but it’s like a shoe that is so cute but does quite fit. You can wear it and you do but man you get blisters. And every time you slip that shoe back on - or try the be the person you think you’re supposed to be at 20 - your blisters get worst. You tell yourself you’re just breaking them in. You’re in a job you don’t quite love, you’re in apartment without enough space, your friend moved across the state and it’s hard to make new ones.

I remember thinking if I just had x things would be better. X was a different job, a different place, got engaged then things would be perfect. Then the shoe would fit.

Well eventually some of the shoes do start to fit. And some get tucked to the far back of a closet. And luckily some of them break a heel and never get worn again. But what really happens is you learn who you really are and what YOU want to be. You have to learn your identity beyond an A Student or captain of the volleyball team or future—insert childhood dream here.

There is so many decisions to make. You are told you can be anything, but what you hear is you must be everything.

I remember sitting in my apartment in Brandon, South Dakota wishing I had space of my own to just sit and think. I was so lucky to have a beautiful public garden close by that I could walk through, listen to the birds sing and watch the flowers bloom. It grounded me and give me a place to thing about who I wanted to be.

So if you need a quiet place to sit, a place to breath and pick flowers, a place to just be that isn’t an apartment balcony - True Blue Flower Co. can be that space for you.
